God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5
Light is obvious and works openly. Light is generally considered as a symbol of life, happiness, hope having the power to conquer darkness and bring order out of chaos. Light is indispensable for life to exist. God created the universe with remarkable beauty and complexity, a notable example is how sun provides precisely the right amount of heat and light for life to flourish on earth, with striking contrast to the unfavourable conditions found on all other planets of our solar system. Fascinating right!
Now, in John 8:12, Jesus said-
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.
This verse conveys us that Jesus Christ is metaphorically world's light. As He is Holy, without sin and darkness, can lead and guide our way. He is the saviour of the world, who for the entire mankind died at the cross of calvary, and as light He showed us the magnanimous love of God for lost sinners, who were in darkness. Jesus, loves and cares for you. He is able to heal all brokenness, comfort them who weep and bring back those who are lost on their way if only they are willing to come to Him. But the grave truth written in the Bible is-
..men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest their deeds should be exposed. John 3:19 & 20
Isn't this the sad reality of the world? No amount of education, teachings or laws could ever sort out all the violence, hatred, wars and evil happenings of the world all through the centuries, as though not all yet there are many who hate the truth and are unwilling to turn to the light.
Lord Jesus Christ is as guiding lighthouse in the vast sea of life, He illuminates the path for those who steer their ship in the direction of His light. Just as the ship that follows the lighthouse beam safely reaches ashore, likewise those who follow Lord Jesus Christ will find their way with certainity both in this world and also life thereafter. Do you want loving savior to guide your way? Come to Him, he will never turn anyone down!
And to those who have already come to Him, let us strive to be like what Jesus said in Mathew 5:14-19-
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
In the same way let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Therefore, as said in the above verse let us be light and do what pleases our redeemer, and be a ray of hope in someone else's life, leading them to the eternal light and love of our creator. As all the present happenings remind us that, Jesus Christ is coming soon! Let us prepare ourselves to meet Him.
