"Actions speak louder than words"
Recently, I came across a quote that was both funny and deep, it got me thinking, the quote is-
Good people are found in every corner of the world but (unfortunately) the earth is round.
As humorous it may sound but this quote clearly emphasizes the seriousness of the issue. Good people are very rare to find nowadays. Being good means "a lack of self centeredness".
What we see in today's world is just the opposite of this, people have become increasingly selfish and are willing to do anything for their own good. This is the reason we have so much of corruption, violence, wars, brutality, and other bad happenings some of which are extremely terrifying.
People have become very self obsessed, always it's about them, their family about earning money, and completely forget about those around them who may be suffering, ill, or going through tough time. What makes someone a good person? Of many qualities empathy, the ability to put themselves in someone else's shoes, is one significant characteristic of a good person. At this juncture, I would like to quote-
The LORD is good a stronghold in the day of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:7
This verse emphasizes the goodness of God which he demonstrated through Christ Jesus. It is written that all have sinned, and all we awaited was judgement for our works and eternal darkness in hell.
But God knowing our plight came in the form of man. All that Jesus Christ did was good and nothing else. He gave sight to the blind, healed people of their sickness, loved people whom the society were treating as outcast, and above all He died for us on that cross of calvary, bearing our sins, trespasses of the whole mankind, and rose again the third day so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. This is the beauty of the goodness of God! He empathizes our situation. Have you put your trust in Him?
Doing good to people who do not deserve at all. The Bible also teaches us that-
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men. Gal 6:10
And do not forget to do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Heb 13:16
As the Lord has been good to us, let us rather than complaining about the bad around us, be good to others instead. We may never know what tomorrow holds, so today let us strive to bring smile in someone's face, encourage, help, support, be peacemakers and empathize with all both to our beloved ones and also to strangers. May we carry out acts of goodness throughout our lifetime.
